Recorded Virtual Events Without CEU's

Person-Centered Language Recording

Description
Recorded live event. PERSON-CENTERED LANGUAGE. What words do you use to communicate with and about clients? Is it possible some of the terms used in your state (or among your colleagues) are actually making relationships more contentious and difficult?

Using the American Psychological Association’s updated “Inclusive Language Guide” and our research into guardian current habits, The Center for Guardianship Excellence shares:
1. 3 categories of word choices that appear to create negative responses including “Equity + Power,” “Bias, Discrimination + Oppression,” and “Microaggressions.”
2. How guardians are identfying which words to avoid and better terms to use as part of getting to know clients.
3. Adjustments to written and conversational language as part of person-centered planning.

We recommend that participants download the “Person-Centered Language Conversation Guide” in advance and have it available to reference during the training.
